Would it be okay if I your picture in one of my Youtube - would use videos, you would then link in the description and your Deviantart - would call account?

I love it! Most basilosaurus drawings make them look overly reptilian, but I like the more whaley look of this.

This is so cool!
Most reconstructions of this animal don't feel right. They look too slim and reptilian. I like this one because it shows a more whale-like animal. Something like a giant dolphin. Good job!

But Basilosaurus actually was very slim...

It's 60 feet long but weighs only 20 tons. It really WAS as thin as most reconstructions show it as. In fact, many of them are too fat rather than too slim.

And how do they know?
And why would a sea mammal be slim? They need a lot of blubber just to stay warm.

The skeleton. If we base the amount of tissue on modern whales, you still get an insanely thin whale.

Basilosaurus lived in the tropics. It didn't need insulation.

Why would an animal that hunted in waters less than 20 feet deep and as shallow as 2 feet want a fat body that keeps running aground?

Makes sense. Didn't knew about their tropical habitat.
That's very interesting! Whales don't have that kind of lifestyle now, right?

No they don't. No modern cetacean is specialized for hunting large prey in very shallow tropical waters.

really cool, most basilosaurus reconstructions look like sea serpents, but yours is more like a a real animal

Basilosaurus is often reconstructed with a quite thin neck. I think, that makes it look like a marine reptile. I wanted it to look like a whale, that's why I used a foto of a Spermwhale as a reference.

finally a basilosaurus that looks like a whale and not like a mosasaur with a horizontal tail! :D

Ironically, mosasaurs were fatter than Basilosaurus. So, the "more accurate" Basilosaurus look actually fits on mosasaurs and the traditional mosasaur looks fits on Basilosaurus.

I have already been aware of that long before you have felt the need to make this pointless comment. Here is an example of how useful your input has been to me: Megalosaurus actually walked only on the hindlegs.

I don't know why you'd assume I have learned nothing in the two years that have passed. Now go away, captain, you were not needed.
